Under the general supervision of the lab leadership, this role involves processing laboratory specimens, data entry, and specimen transport as ordered by clinicians. The position requires the ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service, adhering to CHOP's ICARE values and Service Standards. The schedule is Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, with rotating weekend and holiday coverage. Key responsibilities include assessing specimen requirements and integrity, triaging, accessioning, processing, and delivering specimens. The role also involves performing waived testing, preparing specialized collection containers, problem-solving to avoid re-collection, and storing specimens correctly. Customer service is a significant component, involving interaction with patients, staff, and vendors, with a focus on providing a patient-centric experience, diffusing difficult situations, and maintaining proper phone etiquette. Equipment maintenance, inventory management, and limited messenger services are also part of the duties. Flexibility in scheduling and cooperation in performing assigned tasks, including rotating on-call, weekends, and holidays, are essential.
