About The Position

The Clinical Informatics Clinician will work in two job functions: As a Clinician in our primary care clinic and as a Clinical Informatics Specialist. The Clinical Informatics Clinician provides direct patient care. Additionally, they will provide clinical informatics leadership, supporting optimization of our EHR (eClinicalWorks) and other information systems to support clinicians and continuously improve the quality and efficiency of clinical care. They will serve as a liaison between the IT Team and the clinical teams to optimize our EHR and improve workflows and the experience of the clinical teams. The Clinical Informatics Lead will train incoming providers on how to use the EHR system and support the clinical teams in effective use of information systems.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • Nurse Practitioner Board Certification
  • Current licensure (or willingness to obtain licensure) to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland
  • At least 2 years prior clinical work experience as a nurse practitioner in a primary care setting.
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience using electronic health records (EHRs) such as Epic, eClinicalWorks, Athena, others
  • Bilingual: Spanish/English.
  • MS office or equivalent software experience
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in clinical informatics, workflow improvement, quality improvement, or health IT leadership (formal training preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary care services, including preventive care, acute care, and chronic disease management, using evidence‑based standards.
  • Deliver culturally responsive, trauma‑informed, and patient‑centered care in alignment with LCDP’s mission and community health model.
  • Use the EHR effectively to support clinical decision‑making, continuity of care, and care coordination.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to address medical and social needs and support whole‑person care.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation and billing.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for EHR and clinical information systems, ensuring systems support safe, efficient, and high-quality primary care.
  • Act as a liaison between clinicians, IT, quality, and operations, translating frontline clinical needs into informatics solutions and workflow improvements.
  • Lead and support EHR optimization efforts, including templates, order sets, clinical decision support, population health tools, and documentation workflows.
  • Contribute to digital transformation roadmaps and efforts
  • Evaluate and redesign clinical workflows to reduce administrative burden, improve data quality, and enhance clinician and staff experience.
  • Support quality improvement, population health, and value-based care initiatives through effective use of clinical data, registries, dashboards, and reporting tools.
  • Champion informatics practices that advance health equity, including accurate capture of social drivers of health and culturally responsive documentation.
  • Participate in system upgrades, regulatory changes, and new technology implementations, ensuring clinical safety, usability, and adoption.
  • Partner with clinical, IT and operations leaders to prioritize high-value clinical use cases for AI.
  • Participate in identifying, evaluating and implementing AI driven solutions that improve clinical workflows and patient outcomes.
  • Lead integration of AI tools (e.g., AI scribes) in clinical.
  • Participate in weekly eClinicalWorks team meetings
  • Lead EHR onboarding and ongoing training for clinicians, including new hires, workflow updates, and targeted retraining.
  • Provide at the elbow support and coaching to improve clinician confidence and competency with clinical information systems.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, tip sheets, and standardized workflows.
  • Support change management by gathering clinician feedback, monitoring adoption, and iterating solutions based on real world use.
  • Participate in clinical quality improvement and risk management activities.
  • Meet regularly with the clinical supervisor to review performance, documentation quality, and improvement initiatives.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, collaborations, or conferences related to clinical care or informatics, as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, HIPAA, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Abide by La Clínica del Pueblo’s policies, procedures, and requirements for clinical staff, including but not limited to those pertaining to clinical documentation, billing and coding, HIPAA and protected health information, and communication with LCDP staff and patients.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
