The Part - Time Foster Care Clinical Director is an advanced practice registered nurse (Nurse Practitioner) is critical to ensuring that children in foster care receive coordinated, high-quality, trauma-informed care that addresses their complex physical, behavioral, and social needs. The Foster Care Director provides clinical leadership to improve health outcomes, strengthen medication and behavioral health oversight, reduce avoidable utilization such as emergency room visits and PRTF admissions, and support compliance with Medicaid and EPSDT requirements. This role also serves as a key bridge between the health plan, providers, and state agencies to improve continuity of care and overall well-being for one of the most vulnerable populations in South Carolina. The position also supports oversight of psychotropic medication use, medication adherence, and coordination with child welfare agencies, foster parents, and community providers. The Nurse Practitioner Clinical Director serves as a key clinical advisor to internal teams and external partners, including the South Carolina Department of Social Services and the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Responsibilities include reviewing complex clinical cases, guiding care planning for medically and behaviorally complex youth, monitoring quality and utilization trends, identifying opportunities for total cost of care improvement, and supporting provider engagement strategies. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in pediatric and adolescent medicine, behavioral health, trauma-informed care, and the unique needs of children in foster care, with demonstrated leadership experience in Medicaid managed care or child welfare settings.
