Clinical Development and Engagement Lead

MPOWERHealth•Addison, TX

About The Position

The Clinical Development and Engagement Lead advances the professional development, engagement, onboarding, and integration of MPOWERHealth’s Surgical Assist (SA) teams. The role partners with Clinical Leadership, Operations, Talent Acquisition, HR, Marketing, and Business Development to support a high-quality clinician experience from candidate assessment through long-term engagement and retention, and serves as a steward of clinical culture and workforce growth. The position requires direct, hands-on surgical clinical experience in a surgical or operating room setting. The successful candidate uses firsthand clinical knowledge to assess clinicians, support onboarding and development, build relationships with Surgical First Assist teams, and represent the company to prospective candidates. Experience solely in healthcare administration, clinical research, recruiting, or non-surgical healthcare operations does not meet the stated surgical experience requirement. The Lead oversees candidate assessment and selection processes; develops onboarding materials, training, workflows, and SOPs; supports clinical education and professional growth; leads clinician engagement efforts; represents the company at recruiting conferences; assists with integrations and retention; and tracks lifecycle metrics to recommend continuous improvements. Travel is required as needed for onboarding and integration initiatives, and the role includes collaboration with leaders and teams across the organization.

Requirements

  • Professional experience as a hands-on surgical clinician, such as a Surgical First Assistant (CSFA, RNFA, LSA), Surgical Technologist, Operating Room RN, Surgical PA/NP, or comparable role.
  • Direct clinical experience in a surgical or operating room setting; general healthcare administration, clinical research, recruiting, or healthcare operations experience alone does not satisfy this requirement.
  • Strong understanding of operating room workflows, surgical procedures, clinical standards, and the responsibilities of surgical team members.
  • Experience working directly with surgeons, Surgical First Assists, and multidisciplinary operating room teams.
  • Ability to assess surgical clinician qualifications, clinical competencies, training needs, and professional development opportunities.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, interviewing, coaching, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution.
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Comfort working in a growth-oriented, evolving environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clinical leadership, onboarding, education, employee engagement, or professional development is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition teams to review candidates, assess surgical backgrounds and competencies, coordinate interview steps, and provide qualified candidate pools to SA Managers.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, interview guides, assessment tools, recruiting materials, and candidate-tracking processes; ensure Culture Index completion and coach clinical leaders on interviewing.
  • Own and improve surgical clinician onboarding materials, training content, workflows, and SOPs, using operating room knowledge to prepare new hires for workflows, team expectations, and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate onboarding with HR, IT, Credentialing, Operations, and Talent Managers; lead onboarding meetings; arrange hybrid onboarding where appropriate; and ensure access, logins, equipment, and resources are ready.
  • Conduct 30-day new-hire follow-ups, share feedback with SA Leadership, and implement improvement actions; collaborate with clinical markets on structured onboarding, mentorship, and market-specific orientation.
  • Partner with Clinical Leadership to identify skill gaps and development needs, support clinical education resources and competency standards, identify clinicians for mentorship or advanced responsibility, and support education initiatives related to competency, patient safety, and performance.
  • Develop and evolve engagement strategies across the surgical clinician lifecycle; maintain communications, recognition, and other engagement initiatives; build relationships with SA teams; and elevate feedback and improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with Operations to address engagement issues related to scheduling, workload, and market-specific needs, and collaborate with Marketing on recruiting, conference, and engagement materials.
  • Partner with Business Development to identify and attend recruiting conferences, represent the company to clinicians and prospective candidates, follow up with interested candidates, and evaluate conference effectiveness and recruiting/brand return on investment.
  • Support integrations, market expansions, and acquisitions through engagement strategy, communication, onboarding alignment, workflow issue identification, clinician transition support, and post-integration follow-ups.
  • Partner with HR and Clinical Leadership on retention strategies and early intervention, and provide leadership with recommendations based on engagement, onboarding, and retention insights.
  • Track and analyze recruiting, onboarding, engagement, and retention metrics; identify trends; keep documentation and processes current and audit-ready; and present insights and recommendations to clinical and operational leadership.
  • Travel as needed to support onboarding initiatives and integration efforts.
