About The Position

Horizon Health Corporation is seeking a Clinical Behavioral Health Director for an Intensive Outpatient Program and Partial Hospitalization Program in Fort Myers, FL. This unit is a 6 to 15 beds mental health program. The Clinical Behavioral Health Director is responsible for the maintenance of the Horizon Health/Client hospital contractual relationship(s) and in coordination with the client, the overall administration of patient care for the Program. Performs as liaison between Program, Hospital and Horizon; communicating information and needs appropriately. Supports Hospital and Horizon missions, goals and objectives. The Clinical Behavioral Director provides strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and operation direction for the behavioral health program. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, and compliant behavioral heath services while supporting clinicians, driving outcomes and maintaining regulatory and accreditation standards. The Clinical Behavioral Health Director serves as a member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for program development, staff performance, quality improvement and client care excellence. Clinical Behavioral Health Director plans, implements and evaluates delivery of overall nursing care to patients. Clinical Behavioral Health Director provides managerial support by providing supervision and evaluation of all nursing personnel for the Program. Included in these responsibilities are: 1) the development and maintenance of a high-quality treatment program; 2) the development and implementation of a comprehensive community relations program; 3) strategic planning, program administration, and development; and 4) Clinical Behavioral Health Director contributes to the program nursing and hospital through commitment to nursing goals and the supervision of clinical staff.

Requirements

  • Must have an active, unrestricted clinical license (e.g., Licensed Clinical Social Worker - LCSW, Licensed Mental Health Counselor - LMHC, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - LMFT, Psychologies, Psychiatrist) required
  • Master’s Degree required
  • Supervisor credential or board approval for clinical supervision preferred
  • Minimum 5–8 years of progressively responsible clinical experience in behavioral health
  • 3–5 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a behavioral health setting
  • American Heart Association issued BLS and ACLS required
  • CPR Certification required
  • Effectively manages change and complex clinical systems
  • Experience working with diverse populations and complex clinical presentations (e.g., SMI, substance use, co occurring disorders).
  • Experience with value based care or managed care environments
  • Leads with accountability, empathy, and decisiveness
  • Ability to manage stress appropriately and channels concerns appropriately
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with staff, leadership, clients, and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical supervision and consultation to licensed and non‑licensed behavioral health staff.
  • Ensure programs utilize evidence‑based practices aligned with best clinical standards.
  • Review and approve clinical policies, treatment protocols, and care pathways.
  • Oversee intake, assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, and continuity of care.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate behavioral health programs and service lines.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning and growth initiatives.
  • Monitor program outcomes and implement continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing models and case mix management.
  • Works with divisional and national support staff to ensure that the client hospital realizes maximum value from Horizon services.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., HIPAA, CMS, state licensing boards).
  • Maintain accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CARF, NCQA, or equivalent).
  • Conduct clinical audits, chart reviews, and corrective action planning.
  • Identify and mitigate clinical risk and sentinel events.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate clinical staff.
  • Provide regular clinical supervision, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Foster a culture of ethical practice, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Support licensure, credentialing, and continuing education requirements.
  • Directs departmental staff involved in multidisciplinary teams to address process improvements involving patients, employees, other customers or teams appropriately.
  • Serve as a liaison with community partners, referral sources, and external agencies.
  • Collaborate with medical providers, case management, and administrative teams.
  • Represent the organization in professional forums and community meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
