About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an Addiction Psychiatrist to join the faculty and serve as Medical Director of a growing addiction treatment program. The role provides outpatient care for individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders and oversees medication management within the program. The faculty member also contributes to the department’s academic mission by teaching and supervising medical students, residents, and fellows. Care is provided in an outpatient, multidisciplinary clinic setting.

The position is based in Charleston, South Carolina, and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., for 40 hours per week. The role requires computer literacy, a valid driver’s license, physical qualification for respirator use, and the ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.

Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. degree.
• Board Certified in Psychiatry.
• Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
• Ability to learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment as required.
• Ability to be physically qualified by medical personnel for respirator use, initially and annually.
• Meet the stated physical capabilities, including lifting and carrying up to 150 lbs. unassisted and assisting with patients weighing up to 300 lbs.
