The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a psychiatrist with interest and experience in Perinatal and Reproductive Psychiatry to join its Women’s Reproductive Behavioral Health Division. The role integrates mental health care into Obstetrics and Gynecology through education, consultation, clinical services, and telepsychiatry. Clinical work includes medication prescribing and management, psychotherapeutic treatment, and collaboration with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other professionals. The position includes teaching and supervising medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees, as well as opportunities for clinical research and scholarly work. The successful candidate may contribute to research initiatives, including participant recruitment, conducting clinical research, and sharing new findings and innovations. The division is interested in candidates who can help expand reproductive psychiatry services across the reproductive lifespan, including mental health needs related to menses and menopause. The role also offers the opportunity to participate in Moms IMPACTT, a statewide program supporting identification and management of maternal mental health and substance use concerns among pregnant and postpartum women in South Carolina. Faculty members collaborate with university leadership, medical directors, providers, clinical staff, trainees, researchers, and other schools across MUSC to support high-quality care, academic inquiry, multidisciplinary value-based care, and effective resource use. Faculty are expected to participate in Department activities and follow Department policies.
