The Division of Biobehavioral Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina is hiring a doctoral-level clinical psychologist to join its Behavioral Medicine Clinic. This combined position includes clinical services in the Behavioral Medicine Clinic and the SC Burn Center, and involvement in quality improvement and research efforts supporting the division’s academic mission. The Behavioral Medicine Clinic is a tertiary clinic where psychologists, psychiatrists, prescribing providers, and trainees coordinate behavioral health care with MUSC specialty care teams. The clinic primarily serves adults in outpatient settings and is expanding inpatient consultation and services for pediatric, teen, and young adult patients. In the Behavioral Medicine Clinic, the psychologist will provide pre- and post-surgical evaluations and care, assessments, and individual and group psychotherapy. Areas of clinical need include metabolic and bariatric surgery, transplant, cancer, and co-occurring psychiatric and medical illness. The psychologist may select populations of interest from the clinic’s range of needs. In the SC Burn Center, the psychologist will integrate pediatric and adult behavioral medicine services and develop, grow, and extend behavioral health services for burn patients and their families. Services include screening and assessment during and after burn recovery, treatment planning for emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial concerns, psychotherapy and behavioral health support focused on pain management, recovery, mood, and stress, and consultation and collaboration with Burn Center providers. The role is 80% funded through MUSC’s Acute, Critical Care and Trauma ICCE, specifically the SC Burn Center.
