About The Position

The Undergraduate program in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at the University of Texas at Arlington is seeking applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor. This role involves coordinating and implementing simulation education activities with a rural focus, collaborating with faculty, and operationalizing activities within the Smart Hospital center, Mobile Simulation Lab (MSL), and Igloo Immersive. The position requires assessing simulation learning activities based on the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice, documenting findings, and participating in quality improvement processes. Responsibilities include reviewing and updating simulation learning activities with course lead faculty, documenting and implementing MSL and Igloo simulation plans, and participating in simulation-based education activities such as human patient simulator operations, co-facilitating debriefing sessions, and assisting with skills teaching and practice labs. The role also involves participating in the development and implementation of simulation research activities with a rural healthcare focus, engaging in ongoing professional development related to rural healthcare, nursing, and simulation education, and disseminating knowledge to peer professionals. The Clinical Assistant Professor will also participate in UTA CONHI committees and activities to advocate for simulation education and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Unencumbered nursing license in the State of Texas
  • Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in nursing education, including instruction of students, staff nurses, other health care professionals and patient/families

Nice To Haves

  • One year of simulation based education experience in healthcare professions, including training and application in debriefing techniques

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and implements simulation education activities with a rural focus in collaboration with UTA CONHI faculty based on learning objectives under the supervision of the Simulation Operations and Education Manager.
  • Collaborates with Smart Hospital faculty and staff to operationalize activities within the center, Mobile Simulation Lab (MSL), and Igloo Immersive.
  • Assesses simulation learning activities based on the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice.
  • Documents assessment findings.
  • Participates in quality improvement processes.
  • Reviews and updates simulation learning activities with UTA CONHI course lead faculty.
  • Documents MSL and Igloo simulation plans and implements them in upcoming semesters.

  • Participates in the development and implementation of simulation research activities with a rural healthcare focus.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development opportunities related to rural healthcare, nursing, and simulation education.
  • Disseminates knowledge and experience of simulation-based education with peer professionals.
  • Participate in UTA CONHI committees and activities to advocate for simulation education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
