About The Position

The Department of Health Policy and Management at the Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at Tulane University is seeking applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor. The Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine has been a leader in public health for more than 100 years and is the leading school of public health in the Gulf Coast region. Tulane University supports a formal process for career development and promotion for non-tenure track faculty, and the individual in this position will be eligible to participate. We are particularly interested in candidates whose teaching draws on the department's interdisciplinary approach, which integrates financial, organizational, policy, and social determinant frameworks to understand health system performance. The selected candidate will teach six sections of HPAM courses per year and contribute to departmental service. Opportunities to engage in curriculum development and broader department initiatives are also available. The Department of Health Policy and Management prepares students to meet the changing demands of the health care, public health, and health policy environments. We envision a future where our graduates enhance the quality of life by improving public health and healthcare delivery systems worldwide. The Department is comprised of 14 full-time faculty members from a range of disciplines. Faculty research clusters around the impact of financing models, organizational structures and processes, and social determinants on quality, cost, and access to healthcare to improve population health. The Department of Health Policy and Management was formally organized as a unit in the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 1967. We currently offer master's and doctoral degree programs, including the MHA, MPH, PhD, and joint degrees (MBA/MHA, JD/MHA, and MD/MPH). These programs are accredited by the Council on Education in Public Health (CEPH). The residential MHA program has been accredited by the Commission on Education for Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) since 1971. It is also a full graduate member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA). We are excited to be adding the Bachelor of Science in Health Policy and Management.
