About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, is seeking a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing for its online Master's of Science in Nursing program. This non-tenure track, 12-month faculty appointment is based in Laredo, Texas. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution committed to advancing knowledge through research, teaching, learning, and community engagement, with a focus on student success and research excellence. The program utilizes a hybrid model, combining online instruction with on-campus learning activities, allowing faculty to work remotely. However, faculty are required to travel to Laredo for designated periods each semester for immersive labs, typically five to six visits per academic year. Faculty are also expected to attend the Fall Faculty and Administrative Staff Assembly and one commencement ceremony annually. This position requires regular on-campus attendance and face-to-face interactions. The Dr. F.M. Canseco School of Nursing is accredited by ACEN and approved by the TBON.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in nursing from an accredited university (ABDs will be considered if doctorate is earned before appointment).
  • A master's degree in nursing.
  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience as a registered nurse/APRN.
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in nursing education.
  • A current unencumbered RN license to practice nursing in the State of Texas.
  • Must meet and have all certification requirements for APRN for their specialty.
  • Ability to travel to Laredo for designated periods each semester for immersive labs (typically 5-6 visits per academic year).
  • Ability to attend the Fall Faculty and Administrative Staff Assembly and one commencement ceremony per academic year.
  • Must complete a criminal history investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching assigned didactic and/or immersive nursing courses in the graduate and/or undergraduate programs (up to 15 semester credit hours per semester).
  • Supervising and evaluating students' progress in course work and clinical experiences.
  • Implementing and evaluating courses as needed.
  • Serving on and participating in college and university committees.
  • Advising students throughout their program of studies, as appropriate.
  • Completing other duties as assigned by the program director or department chair.
  • Developing and evaluating curriculum.
  • Developing and maintaining partnerships in and around the community.
  • Engaging in other activities to serve the school and the profession.
