About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, is seeking a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing for a Hybrid Position to begin Spring 2027. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution located in Laredo, Texas, dedicated to advancing knowledge and student success. This is a non-tenure track, 12-month faculty appointment supporting an online Master's of Science in Nursing program. The role involves teaching didactic and immersive nursing courses, supervising student progress in coursework and clinical experiences, developing and evaluating curriculum, serving on committees, and advising students. While the curriculum combines online instruction with on-campus learning activities, allowing remote work, faculty are required to travel to Laredo for designated immersive lab periods (typically five to six visits per academic year). Attendance at the Fall Faculty and Administrative Staff Assembly and one commencement ceremony per academic year is also expected. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The Dr. F.M. Canseco School of Nursing is accredited by ACEN and approved by TBON.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in nursing from an accredited university (ABDs will be considered but must have earned a doctorate before appointment)
  • A master's degree in nursing
  • A minimum of 5-years of clinical practice experience as a registered nurse/APRN
  • A minimum of 5-years teaching experience in nursing education
  • A current unencumbered RN license to practice nursing in the State of Texas
  • Must meet and have all certification requirements for APRN for their specialty

  • Experience in collaborating with the community and healthcare partners
  • Experience and knowledge of online/distance/hybrid delivery methods in higher education

Responsibilities

  • Teaching assigned didactic and/or immersive nursing courses in the graduate and/or undergraduate programs (up to 15 semester credit hours per semester)
  • Supervising and evaluating students' progress in course work and clinical experiences
  • Implementing and evaluating courses as needed
  • Serving on and participating in college and university committees
  • Advising students throughout their program of studies, as appropriate
  • Completing other duties as assigned by the program director or department chair
  • Developing and evaluating curriculum
  • Developing and maintaining partnerships in and around the community
  • Engaging in other activities to serve the school and the profession
  • Travel to Laredo and be on campus for designated periods each semester for immersive labs
  • Attend the Fall Faculty and Administrative Staff Assembly and one commencement ceremony per academic year
