About The Position

The Department of Emergency Medicine within Sideny Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University is now accepting applications for a full-time, faculty position. We are seeking a dedicated and academically driven Clinical Assistant Professor to join our growing faculty. This role combines high-acuity clinical emergency care with active participation in teaching, mentorship, and academic initiatives within a dynamic, mission-driven academic health system. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive emergency care across Jefferson’s urban emergency departments while contributing to medical student and resident education in a collaborative learning environment.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Residency trained and/or board certified in Emergency Medicine.
  • Eligible for or active Pennsylvania medical licensure.
  • Qualifications sufficient to meet appointment criteria at the Clinical Assistant Professor rank or higher.
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic medicine, education, and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency patient care in the hospital, outpatient, and consultation settings.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and critical illnesses and injuries in a high-volume emergency department (130,000 annual visits).
  • Supervise and collaborate with residents, fellows, advanced practice clinicians, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within Epic EMR.
  • Teach and mentor residents in the department’s three-year Emergency Medicine residency program (51 residents).
  • Provide instruction and clinical teaching for the required Emergency Medicine clerkship for SKMC medical students.
  • Participate in curriculum development, academic conferences, and educational programming.
  • Contribute to research, scholarly activity, and/or quality improvement initiatives consistent with faculty rank expectations.
  • Engage in departmental meetings and academic committees as appropriate.
