About The Position

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at Texas A&M University's School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences is seeking to fill two full-time, non-tenure-track Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor positions in small animal primary care medicine. These positions are on an 11-month appointment with an anticipated start date in Fall 2026. The Primary Care Service serves a diverse client and patient population, emphasizing a Spectrum of Care approach for student learning. The service includes a mandatory 4-week rotation in wellness, general, and preventive care, and utilizes the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) resources, including digital radiography with PACS, and on-site clinical pathology, microbiology, and the TAMU GI lab. The successful candidate will be dedicated to excellence in patient care, client service, and clinical teaching, possessing strong leadership and communication skills. They will collaborate with a team of primary care clinicians and technicians, over 50 small animal hospital faculty, 55 interns and residents, and approximately 180 senior veterinary students. The role involves approximately 75% clinical instruction and patient care, 10% classroom/laboratory teaching, 5% scholarship, and 10% service, adhering to the VMBS Code of Professional Conduct. The Primary Care Service, staffed by four full-time clinicians, one part-time clinician, and seven technicians, is committed to improving access to care for underserved populations through local and rural outreach programs and an active telehealth initiative.

Requirements

• DVM degree (or equivalent).
• Licensed or eligible to be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Texas.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the general practice of small animal medicine.
