Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure): Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate/Full Clinical Professor - Equine Soft Tissue
About The Position
The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at Texas A&M University's College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences is seeking a full-time, 11-month academic professional track faculty member specializing in Equine Soft Tissue Surgery. This non-tenure track position offers the opportunity to serve at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor, depending on qualifications. The role requires a collaborative spirit, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to professional conduct. The position involves a blend of clinical service (50-60%), didactic teaching (20-30%), scholarly activities (10-20%), and service (10%). The anticipated start date is Winter 2026.
Requirements
- DVM (or equivalent) degree.
- Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) or eligibility to take Phase II of the ACVS examination.
- Interest, experience, training, and expertise in teaching in both pre-clinical and clinical programs.
- Ability to provide high-quality patient care for a referral population of large animal surgical patients.
- Must meet requirements for veterinary licensure in the State of Texas.
- Possession of, or eligibility for, a DEA certificate.
- Collegial, team-centered work attitude.
- Excellent communication skills with animal owners, faculty colleagues, veterinary students, house officers, technicians, and hospital staff.

Responsibilities
- Provide clinical service for equine soft tissue surgery cases, including elective and emergency procedures, covering upper airway, urogenital, gastrointestinal, and body wall/integument conditions.
- Share after-hours and holiday coverage for emergency cases with other surgeons.
- Participate in the clinical training of surgery residents, interns, and veterinary students.
- Instruct didactic courses for students in the pre-clinical veterinary curriculum.
- Provide clinical instruction to fourth-year veterinary students during their soft tissue rotation.
- Engage in department and interdepartmental rounds and seminars.
- Train rotating interns and residents.
- Contribute to collaborative research and scholarly activities aligned with the College's missions.
- Potentially engage in independent, clinically-oriented research if interests and expertise align.
