About The Position

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Idaho State University (ISU) seeks an outstanding clinical assistant professor in audiology to expand audiology services on our Pocatello Campus. Responsibilities include working in the following areas: teaching undergraduate and graduate-level audiology courses, supervising doctoral-level audiology students in clinical practice, providing direct clinical audiological services, engaging in scholarly activity, and contributing to the university through service. This position requires a commitment to teaching, clinical education, research, and service excellence. This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.

Requirements

Earned master's degree (e.g., MS, MA) and/or doctoral degree in Audiology (e.g., AuD, Ph.D.) from an accredited institution.
Currently licensed or eligible to become licensed as an audiologist in Idaho.
At least one year (post-graduation) of clinical audiology experience.
Currently certified or eligible for the American Speech/Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A).
Evidence of strong collaboration skills.
Excellent interpersonal and professional skills and potential for excellence in teaching.

Nice To Haves

Hearing-aid experience with multiple product lines and manufacturers.
Experience supervising and instructing graduate students in a clinical environment.
Experience in implantable devices, especially with cochlear implants.
Interest in and experience with auditory brainstem response evaluation.
Interest in and/or experience with vestibular assessment and management.
Have a clear potential for clinical teaching.

Responsibilities

Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate-level courses in audiology, covering key topics such as audiological assessment, hearing disorders, auditory rehabilitation, and hearing aid technology.
Utilize innovative and evidence-based teaching strategies to engage students and enhance learning outcomes.
Assess student performance through a variety of methods, including exams, assignments, practical assessments, and clinical case studies.
Collaborate with faculty colleagues to ensure course content aligns with current professional standards and accreditation requirements.
Supervise and mentor graduate audiology students in clinical settings, guiding them in assessing, diagnosing, and treating hearing and balance disorders.
Provide ongoing feedback and evaluation to ensure students meet the clinical competencies necessary for professional practice and licensure.
Maintain a supportive and ethical clinical learning environment, ensuring adherence to legal and professional standards.
Provide a broad range of clinical audiology services in Pocatello, including pediatric and adult hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings and follow-ups, implantable device evaluations and fittings, ABR testing, VNG testing, Veterans Affairs (VA) compensation & pension evaluations, tinnitus evaluations, and telehealth services.
Stay informed about advancements in audiological practice and incorporate new techniques and technologies into clinical services.
Engage in scholarly activities that contribute to the field of audiology, such as research, publications, presentations, and grant writing.
Collaborate with colleagues on research projects and participate in professional conferences to disseminate findings.
Mentor graduate students in their research endeavors, providing guidance on project development, data analysis, and dissemination of results.
Participate in department, college, and university committees, contributing to governance and decision-making processes.
Engage in professional service activities, such as involvement in audiology-related organizations, community outreach, and continuing education.
Participate in initiatives that promote growth and excellence in the academic and clinical environments to support the university's mission.
