The Section of Clinical Cardiology is often times the area where patients first have access to specialized inpatient and outpatient heart care and long-term management of their conditions. We offer the latest innovations in cardiac care and clinical therapies to patients of all ages. We provide state-of-the-art tests and procedures to help make an accurate diagnosis and create a treatment plan. We see patients with very common heart problems, such as angina, artery problems, valvular heart disease, and heart failure. We also treat patients with some very rare forms of heart disease, including those who have been told by other doctors that their condition cannot be treated. As a Clinical Assistant at Indian River Hospital’s Cardiology Practice, you will assist your fellow LPNs, RNs and other healthcare staff in providing exceptional patient support and attention. This position is a great introduction to the Cleveland Clinic enterprise before exploring further our numerous educational or professional development opportunities. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 4:30PM or 8:30AM – 5:00PM.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Program
  • Current Florida licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of Infection Control Practices
  • Computer literacy

Nice To Haves

  • One year of clinical experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care to patients as appropriate.
  • Provide accurate medication administration and nursing documentation such as medical records, authorization forms and laboratory requisitions.
  • Implement pain management assessments and documentation.
  • Recognize changes in patient status and report pertinent information to Charge Nurse or Physicians.
  • Recognize and follow through with nursing intervention.
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation and files at all times.
  • Perform patient teaching as needed under the supervision of RN/Physician.
  • Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.
  • Follow Code Blue protocol as per clinic policy.
