About The Position
The University of St. Thomas is seeking energetic Adjunct Clinical Instructors for its Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program in the Downtown Houston area. The primary responsibility is providing clinical education to ABSN students. Instructors are assigned teaching responsibilities in a clinical area and help students develop clinical skills, understand standards of practice, and strengthen critical thinking. Adjunct Instructors are accountable to the Director, Nursing Services of the ABSN program.
Requirements
- Master's degree in nursing.
- At least two years of successful clinical nursing practice.
- Current unencumbered RN license in Texas or another compact state.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a clinical setting if required.
Nice To Haves
- At least two years of teaching experience; teaching experience is not required.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate effective student learning in the assigned clinical setting.
- Guide students in the clinical setting on professionalism, practice, and research.
- Select and organize learning activities that help students attain course objectives.
- Evaluate student practice effectively.
- Promote evidence-based practice.
- Provide a supportive learning environment and give supervisory personnel feedback on student progress.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, the healthcare partner, and its staff.
- Attend required orientation, training, and faculty meetings.
