About The Position

Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was replaced with a state-of-the-art 18-bed facility in 2012, designated as a Critical Access Hospital. This professional staff person is responsible for gathering pertinent clinical information and performing assessments and treatments in the outpatient clinic/medical office setting. The Staff Nurse performs CLIA waived testing, administers medications, and performs treatments as ordered by physicians and in keeping with current clinical nursing practice. Additionally, the Staff Nurse provides a range of cross-functional services to ensure comprehensive patient care continuity, including making referrals to outside providers, gathering reports from other facilities, and coordinating other healthcare-related services. Under the direction of the Clinic Medical Director/Laboratory Director, the Staff Nurse is also responsible for patient specimen collecting and testing, quality control, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a School of Professional Nursing - LVN or RN
  • Must have a license to practice professional nursing by the Texas Board of Nursing or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact
  • Successful completion of AHA approved courses in BLS upon hire
  • One (1) year experience as a Professional Nurse - LVN or RN

Responsibilities

  • Gathering pertinent clinical information and performing assessments and treatments in the outpatient clinic/medical office setting
  • Performing CLIA waived testing
  • Administering medications and performing treatments as ordered by physicians and in keeping with the current clinical nursing practice
  • Performing a range of services in a cross-functional mode to comprehensively serve patient needs for continuity of care
  • Making referrals to outside providers

  • Assuming, under the direction of the Clinic Medical Director/Laboratory Director, responsibility for patient specimen collecting and testing, quality control, and equipment maintenance
