About The Position

The Clinical LVN Lead provides advanced clinical and operational leadership within a small rural health clinic. This role oversees back-office clinical operations, supports the Clinic Manager, ensures regulatory and quality compliance, and maintains efficient workflows across multiple clinic sites. Responsibilities include coordinating competency assessments, managing vaccine programs, overseeing supplies and medications, ensuring quality control documentation, and assisting with direct patient care within the LVN scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Licensed Vocational Nursing program.
  • Current LVN license from California State Board.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Ability to administer a variety of treatments and medications as directed, take vital signs, and maintain quality control standards.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures.
  • Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment, such as examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
  • Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in busy or emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.
  • Requires adherence to all policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, management and peers.
  • Maintain current CPR for Health Care Providers.
  • Maintain current State of California LVN licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Clinic Manager with daily operational oversight and serve as the primary clinical lead for back-office functions.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to clinical staff and promote a positive work environment.
  • Ensure efficient patient flow and adherence to established clinical workflows and standards.
  • Perform patient intake, vitals, medical histories, Snellen/audiometry screening, and clinical testing as needed.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and clinical support activities within LVN scope.
  • Administer medications, immunizations, and perform point-of-care testing per clinic protocols.
  • Collect and label lab specimens using proper technique and prepare them for transport.
  • Maintain and oversee clinical supplies, ensuring ordering, stocking, and inventory rotation across multiple sites.
  • Monitor and complete all annual competencies, including Point-of-Care (POC) competencies for all clinical staff.
  • Ensure all quality control logs are properly completed and kept current.
  • Manage vaccine inventory and workflows, including the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program, Vaccines for Private (VFP), and required reporting.
  • Oversee stocking and tracking of all medications for multi-office locations and ensure appropriate rotation and documentation.
  • Coordinate Durable Medical Equipment (DME) supplies, ensuring accurate ordering and availability.
  • Maintain sterile technique, set up sterile fields, and ensure instruments are cleaned and delivered for sterilization.
  • Assist with front office activities when needed, including patient check-in, chart preparation, and referrals.
  • Support patient callbacks, follow-up communication, and coordination with specialists.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) meetings and assist in implementing process improvements.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and compliant exam rooms and clinical areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinic Manager.
