About The Position

Provides support for the day-to-day operations of the assigned clinic(s), assisting with the business/financial aspects of patient flow from appointment to treatment. Offers assistance and supervision in clinic nursing and reception. The RN Clinical Manager is responsible for providing leadership to assigned clinical areas, overseeing daily clinical operations, and collaborating with peers and leadership to develop long-term strategic processes that enhance patient care and nursing operations.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing with an active Iowa Nursing License
  • Minimum of three years of previous clinic experience preferred.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including online training modules, employee timesheet, and performance appraisal system.
  • Job specific systems are also required.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision for clinical and nursing practice in the delivery of safe, efficient, and effective patient care.
  • Provide direction to healthcare team members, evaluating and enhancing the quality and effectiveness of clinical and nursing practice and nursing services.
  • Promote competencies in the roles and functions of patient care team members, promoting functioning to full scope of practice.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and innovation in care delivery systems.
  • Teach and mentor others to routinely utilize evidence-based data and research, advocating for the use of documented best practice.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Clinic Officer to support the vision and strategic plan for nursing and clinical practice in the delivery of safe, efficient, and effective patient care.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and principles, knowledge of the healthcare environment, communication and relationship management, and professionalism, including elements of evidence-based practice, ethics, influencing behaviors, accountability of self, peers and staff, critical thinking, clinical leadership, quality improvement, strategic management, teamwork, and mentoring.
  • Provide leadership in the management of nursing and clinical data, documentation of care in the electronic health record, policies and procedures for nursing practice, and a diversity of projects for nursing practice and clinical services, supporting safety surveys and responding to recommendations.
  • Ensure the clinical perspective is included in organizational decisions, creating a supportive environment with sufficient resources for nursing research, scholarly inquiry, and knowledge generation.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to others in evidence-based practice and research utilization.
  • Maintain knowledge of current nursing and clinical practice, care delivery systems, and functions of patient care team members.
  • Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the planning and delivery of nursing and clinical services.
  • Support nursing and clinical practice in relation to practice standards and guidelines and relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.
  • Evaluate one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rule, and regulations, supporting the nursing profession by contributing to the professional development of peers, staff, and colleagues, and actively participating in teams and committees.
  • Provide visionary thinking on issues impacting the clinics/organization, serving as a change agent and assisting others in understanding the importance, necessity, impact, and process of change, and assisting in coordinating and ensuring efficient implementation of plans.
  • Direct departmental quality, performance improvement, work standardization, and environment of care activities, assuring smooth daily operations for patient flow within the clinic, and consulting other clinics and departments as appropriate for collaboration in patient care and performance improvement activities.
  • Maintain responsibility for equipment and supplies related to assigned areas, managing and operating equipment safely and correctly, and utilizing Materials Management for economical management of supplies and submitting invoices for payment as required.
  • Manage the customer satisfaction process, including responding to patient complaints, and serving as a liaison between staff and customers to ensure resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the development of programs appropriate to meet the changing needs of the patient population, assuring the provision of adequate services that are relevant and accessible, and working with the Education department to develop and implement annual competencies for nursing staff.
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with Rural Health Clinic (RHC) and Provider Based Clinic guidelines, including completion of the annual RHC evaluations, completing cost reporting for assigned clinics, and ensuring and maintaining compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety, and Risk Management guidelines.
  • Supervise the professional activities of nursing staff and supportive personnel, coordinating and directing patient care, and ensuring patients' needs are met and organizational policy is followed.
  • Schedule, conduct, and complete follow-up for regular daily staffing, staff meetings, and clinic site visits, coordinating and approving staff time off and payroll.
  • Be knowledgeable about all department policies, activities, procedures, and processes, providing input on changes, and being available to all personnel for guidance, counseling, and advice as needed.
  • Develop, understand, and manage the departmental budget, ensuring that budgetary concerns are communicated to the Director as needed.
  • Identify performance expectations, ensure employees understand those expectations and are held accountable for meeting them, assess employee performance in a timely manner, work with employees to resolve performance issues, take timely and appropriate disciplinary actions, and acknowledge employee accomplishments.
  • Communicate and enforce Waverly Health Center policies, and develop policies and procedures essential to the operation of the department in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Create and maintain departmental job descriptions, build a team with diverse skills and strengths by selecting the best candidate for each position, and develop effective staffing patterns to meet departmental needs.
