About The Position

This position at CoxHealth's Family Medical Care Center involves both LPN and Medical Assistant III duties. The LPN performs administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and data entry, as well as clinical duties including measuring vital signs, collecting patient information, preparing patients for examination, cleaning rooms and equipment, stocking supplies, and administering medications. The MA III also performs administrative duties like answering phones, scheduling, and data entry, and clinical duties such as measuring vital signs, collecting patient information, preparing patients for examination, cleaning rooms and equipment, stocking supplies, and administering medications under supervision.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a state board accredited practical nursing program (for LPN).
  • Current License Practical Nurse or Graduate Practical Nurse active in the state of Missouri (for LPN).
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (for MA).
  • Graduated from or Completion of a formal MA training program that included pharmacology class, anatomy/physiology, the basics of medication administration, and completion of a clinical externship (for MA, effective 9/1/20).
  • Certification or Registration from a CoxHealth approved certification program: CMA/AAMA, RMA/AMT, CCMA/NHA, NRCMA/NAHP, NCMA/NCCT, RMA/AAMP (for MA).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Carry out delegated tasks as directed by supervisors or with provider oversite (for LPN).
  • Carry out delegated tasks under supervision of a provider (for MA).
  • Proficient Computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous nursing experience, particularly in outpatient or ambulatory clinic setting (for LPN).
  • IV certification in State of Missouri (for LPN).
  • Previous experience in work that involved direct contact with people (for MA).
  • Previous experience in health care setting, particularly in an ambulatory clinic setting (for MA).

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative duties including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and data entry in medical records.
  • Measure and record vital signs.
  • Collect demographics and medical information, including review of medication list.
  • Prepare patients for examination.
  • Clean rooms and equipment.
  • Stock supplies.
  • Administer medications as ordered by the physician or under provider oversight.
  • Perform specific competencies as directed by the department.
