Requirements

Medical Assistant Apprentice: Enrolled in the Clinic Assistant Training Apprenticeship Program advancing through learning modules for 14 weeks as skills are acquired to perform the Clinical Assistant position.
Medical Assistant Apprentice: Upon completion of the apprentice program, NHA Board CCMA Certification is required within 6 months of completing the apprentice education program and the on the job hours requirement OR Enrolled in the Med Certs training program.
Medical Assistant Apprentice: 1 Year commitment to Essentia required.
Medical Assistant or LPN: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in appropriate state, i.e. Minnesota, Wisconsin, OR current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant OR Verifiable completion of a Medical Assistant Program and must become certified within one year of date of hire. (Must pass certification within two attempts)
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified, or able to obtain within 3 months.
High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Nice To Haves

LPNs cannot practice in this capacity.

Responsibilities

Assisting RN, Physician and other providers with direct patient care in the ambulatory setting.
Performing identified procedures individually once competencies have been demonstrated.
Caring for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly.
Greeting and rooming patients.
Obtaining vital signs.
Documenting in patient chart.
Stocking and cleaning exam rooms.
Ordering and maintaining clinic supplies.
Assisting with clerical duties.
Performing all other duties as assigned.
