About The Position

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit and coordinates care planning with other disciplines. This role is for a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Fort Sanders Regional is a 444-bed hospital and part of Covenant Health, a nonprofit health system in East Tennessee.

Requirements

At least three years of professional experience.
Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN licensure.
CPR required.
Education must be sufficient to meet the standards for the required license and/or certification; no specific minimum education is stated.

Responsibilities

Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care or nursing home care.
Assesses the needs of patients and families.
Develops and initiates plans of care involving patients and families.
Recommends interventions and evaluates plans of care.
Resolves complex patient, management, and physician problems without supervision.
Demonstrates competence in critical skills and delivers care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
Leads process improvement initiatives in the unit or participates on a facility team.
Precepts new employees or students, or attends a formal preceptor workshop and is willing to precept; reviews preceptee clinical performance with the unit leader or clinical instructor.
Provides four contact hours of educational activities, excluding basic patient education.
Contributes to the development and evaluation of the unit orientation program.
Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards; completes required annual education assignments; works toward goals and objectives; and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
