Climbing Arborist Crew Lead | North Royalton, Ohio
About The Position
The Climbing Arborist Crew Lead directs crew members and equipment and plans and executes assigned work. The role leads a crew in providing arboricultural care for clients, including climbing trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems. The position is based outdoors and involves travel expectations of up to 25%. The crew lead plans for jobsite hazards, obstacles, and equipment; performs tree pruning, thinning, deadwood removal, hazardous tree removal, and installation of cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems; and mentors crew members through the Davey Career Development Program. The role also requires maintaining, preparing, and operating tools and equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
Requirements
- Love of the outdoors.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.
Nice To Haves
- Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates.
- ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Certified Tree Worker, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional certification.
Responsibilities

- Prune and thin trees and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
- Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
- Remove hazardous trees.
- Mentor crew members through the Davey Career Development Program.
- Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
