About The Position

The Lehigh County Office of Children & Youth Services (OCYS) has a mission to protect children from abuse and neglect and strengthen families. Lehigh County currently has an immediate need for a Clerk Typist 2 to perform the duties of a receptionist. Come join our dedicated team of professionals and help us accomplish our goals.

Requirements

  • Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development to the level of eighth grade; or
  • Completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; or
  • Any combination of equivalent experience and training.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation.
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, or Schuylkill counties.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Agency receptionist on a daily basis providing effective and efficient communication between the Agency and the community.
  • Answer three incoming phone lines and transfer appropriately.
  • Record all voice messages from overnight.
  • Retrieve and distribute all incoming faxes at the reception area.
  • Maintain the "Daily Schedule" which records the office attendance of entire staff along with meetings and overnight staffing.
  • Maintain current phone lists.
  • Confirm on-call staff assignments on a daily basis.
  • Maintain the log of equipment used by on-call staff.
  • Provide assistance to clerical support staff including but not limited to: Preparing and processing case files for court as well as openings, transfers, closings, and mailing court orders.
  • Processing incoming mail by opening, stamping, distributing and completing labels.
  • Filing and scanning closed files.
  • Completing routine letters, appointments, and case acknowledgements.
  • Operating office equipment.
  • Performing additional duties as needed.
