Cleared NOC Network Engineer Tier 3 Supervisor
About The Position
VSO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior NOC Network Engineer (Tier 3) Supervisor to join its team in Lorton, Virginia. The role focuses on advanced network operations, complex troubleshooting, and leading network improvement initiatives to ensure the reliability and performance of critical network infrastructure. The position includes on-site team management, technical mentorship, contract communications, business development support, and assistance with invoicing. Candidates must be willing to work onsite, be within driving distance of Lorton or willing to relocate, hold an active TS/SCI clearance, meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements, and be available for non-standard hours and on-call duties. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in network operations, engineering, or a similar role.
- Expert-level understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, and VPNs.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, and/or other enterprise network equipment.
- Proficiency with network monitoring and diagnostic tools such as SolarWinds, Wireshark, or PRTG.
- Strong knowledge of network security principles, including firewall management, IDS/IPS, and access control.
- Proven ability to lead incident response and troubleshoot complex network issues.
- Must be within driving distance of Lorton, Virginia, or willing to relocate.
- Must be willing to work onsite.
- Must have an active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Must be willing to work non-standard hours, including on-call duties.
- Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements, such as Security+ CE or CCNA Security.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the escalation point for complex network issues from Tier 1 and Tier 2 support.
- Lead diagnosis and resolution of critical network incidents to minimize downtime.
- Analyze network performance and proactively identify optimization opportunities.
- Design, implement, and maintain network configurations, upgrades, and solutions.
- Collaborate with network architects and other teams on network design and capacity planning.
- Oversee integration of new network technologies and solutions into existing infrastructure.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to Tier 1 and Tier 2 NOC personnel.
- Ensure adherence to network security standards and contribute to security policy development.
- Maintain current documentation on network architecture, configurations, and processes.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to network emergencies as needed.
- Provide on-site team management, including mentoring junior team members.
- Manage team time reporting and forecasting.
- Assist with business development activities.
- Own weekly and monthly contractually required communications with the Prime.
- Assist with monthly invoicing processes to ensure accurate customer billing.
