About The Position

The Cleaning Technician performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, operating rooms, recovery rooms, public areas, and office areas to ensure a clean and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The role also includes linen distribution and stocking at assigned facilities, maintaining linen storage and distribution areas, safely operating cleaning equipment, using cleaning chemicals according to directions, and promptly reporting equipment or workplace issues. The position is based at Methodist Hospital, 8303 Dodge St., Omaha, Nebraska.

Requirements

Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Six months of previous cleaning experience preferred, preferably in a healthcare environment.
Knowledge of housekeeping cleaning practices preferred.
Basic written and verbal communication skills for positive interaction with staff and customers preferred.

Responsibilities

Clean and service assigned facility areas in a timely manner using established procedures.
Safely operate cleaning equipment, including carts, buckets, vacuums, buffers, and extractors, and report equipment requiring repair.
Mix and use cleaning chemicals and products according to manufacturer directions and department procedures.
Request or obtain supplies in a timely manner to prevent shortages and maintain productivity.
Sort clean linen and place it on appropriate shelves and exchange carts for delivery.
Stock linen supplies in patient care areas, maintain linen par levels, and respond to requests for additional linens.
Clean and disinfect linen storage and distribution areas daily, including work surfaces and floors, and perform weekly high dusting of vents and ledges.
Report problems, deficiencies, and incomplete linen tasks to the team leader or next shift as appropriate.
Complete and submit verbal or written work assignments and reports about incomplete work, problems, and issues.
Follow safety and infection-control guidelines and immediately report unsafe conditions or accidents.
Participate in required in-services and continuing education programs.
Understand and put into practice the organization’s mission, vision, core values, Employee Standards of Behavior, and policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
