About The Position
Janitors keep assigned areas, such as offices, commercial spaces, industrial spaces, or institutional buildings, clean and orderly. The Cleaner works successfully with fellow employees, clients, and all levels of the organization; follows verbal and written instructions; and explains how to complete tasks using basic communication skills. The role is expected to comply with Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) policies and procedures, participate in HSEQ training, maintain environmental responsibility and quality standards, and report potential hazards or compliance concerns.
Requirements
- No previous cleaning experience is required.
- Understand and comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
- Understand and follow verbal and written instructions and explain how to complete tasks using basic communication skills.
- Be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Be able to work under pressure and meet time deadlines during peak periods.
- Frequently lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and frequently lift items weighing 0–10 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures, and use proper personal protective equipment.
- Perform work assignments as part of a team and maintain a clean work area.
- Follow company procedures, policies, and rules; take direction and respond to supervision.
- Communicate professionally with the lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers.
- Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
- Maintain a professional appearance and conduct and support customer service and satisfaction.
- Coordinate activities with other internal departments and participate in team meetings.
- Vacuum and edge floors.
- Dust assigned areas.
- Clean and stock restrooms and breakrooms.
- Clean windows.
- Empty trash and transport it to the proper disposal area.
- Sweep and mop floors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Participate in HSEQ training and report potential hazards or compliance concerns.
