Cleaner - 2nd Shift
About The Position
The Cleaner works under the supervision of the Custodial Manager or Supervisor and performs a variety of custodial duties for C&W Services in accordance with established standards, instructions, and procedures. The role includes routine cleaning and upkeep of interior building spaces, bathrooms, furnishings, glass, floors, and waste areas, as well as periodic cleaning tasks and other duties as assigned. The position requires attention to detail, a commitment to excellent service, organization, energy, and endurance. Basic cleaning responsibilities do not require previous experience. The posted compensation is $18.42–$20.00; the successful candidate’s compensation may depend on factors including location, collective bargaining coverage, market rates, experience, and qualifications.
Requirements
- No previous experience is required for basic cleaning responsibilities.
- Ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision, and function cooperatively as part of a team.
- Ability to use cleaning tools and equipment.
- Ability to use a portable backpack-style vacuum cleaner.
- Attention to detail, pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance.
Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, and wash interior floors and other surfaces.
- Operate commercial floor buffers and shampoo machines, including attachments.
- Vacuum rugs in offices and public areas; spot-clean rugs daily and shampoo them when directed.
- Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, horizontal surfaces, and periodically high surfaces.
- Wash windowsills, interior glass doors, partitions, specified windows, entrance-door glass and trim, and spot-clean interior walls as appropriate.
- Clean bathrooms and replenish paper supplies daily, including cleaning fixtures and surfaces, servicing soap and toilet-paper dispensers, and sweeping, mopping, or scrubbing floors.
- Monitor and report possible defects, such as clogged urinals and lights that are out, to supervisors.
- Collect building trash daily, place it in approved containers, and move it to the designated collection area for removal.
- Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers according to specifications.
- Sweep or shovel snow from steps, entrances, and connecting walkways or sidewalks as directed.
- Perform periodic high dusting, leather and wood surface care, polishing, and wall washing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
