About The Position

UMOS is seeking a dedicated Classroom Teacher for their Plymouth, Wisconsin location. This role involves planning and implementing educational programs for young children, maintaining detailed records, communicating with parents, and ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment. The teacher will utilize various curricula and frameworks, including the Creative Curriculum System, UMOS School Readiness Plan, and Head Start Early Learning Outcome Framework, to foster child development and address individual needs. This position requires a commitment to positive guidance strategies and active supervision of children at all times.

Requirements

  • Be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have an Infant and Toddler CDA (Infant and Toddler classroom only) or its equivalent.
  • Must have been trained or have equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills to include but not limited to data entry and internet.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • Hold a valid driver's license with adequate car insurance.
  • Work flexible and/or irregular hours with some travel.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check prior to employment.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a physical exam and TB screening test showing absence of Tuberculosis within 30 days of employment or sooner if required by local/state regulation.
  • Complete SIDS & Shaken Baby Training prior to working with children.
  • Complete Fire Extinguisher Training.
  • Proof of certification in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid within 30 days or sooner if required by local/state regulation.
  • Register in the State Childcare registry.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred teaching experience with children ages 0-5.
  • Preferred Bilingual in Spanish and English (oral and written).

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, complete, and track all required home visits and parent/teacher conferences.
  • Schedule and complete child developmental screenings and assessments.
  • Ensure collection and timely online entry of classroom observations and documentation.
  • Complete assessment finalization checkpoints for all children within the specified timeframe.
  • Use assessment results to create/update individualized plans in conjunction with parents to address each child’s needs and track progress.
  • Plan and implement indoor and outdoor learning environments and experiences using the Creative Curriculum System, UMOS School Readiness Plan, and the Head Start Early Learning Outcome Framework.
  • Implement daily activity plans, field trips, and transition activities, submitting completed documents to the Child Development Coordinator.
  • Implement Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) for children with disabilities, integrating goals into plans and lesson planning.
  • Maintain required documentation on children and classroom activities, including child roster, absentee list, meal count, classroom child file, case notes, screenings, and assessments, submitting reports to the Child Development Coordinator.
  • Maintain written and verbal communication with families regarding developmental progress using the PFCE Framework.
  • Maintain and document the Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) within the classroom, conducting and participating in family-style meals.
  • Implement required health and safety policies and procedures, including storage of hazardous materials, health and safety checklists, daily child observation, diapering, injury prevention, accident reports, sanitizing, cleaning, and universal precautions.
  • Participate in the ongoing weekly generation and collection of non-federal shares (In-kind).
  • Use positive guidance strategies to help children learn, monitor, and promote positive behaviors.
  • Conduct direct sight and sound supervision of all children at all times and demonstrate active supervision.
  • Communicate, assist, and work with other staff in coordinating arrival and departure of children, setting up and cleaning environments, and working with bus staff for clear communication between center and parents.
  • Attend all staff meetings, trainings, and center activities as assigned by the Center Manager and CDC.
  • Assist in training and/or supporting other teaching staff as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
