About The Position

York County Community Action Corp. (YCCAC) is seeking qualified classroom substitutes to support its Head Start classrooms on an as-needed basis. The role is intended for early childhood professionals who value flexibility and teamwork and want to support young children and families. Substitutes help ensure continuity of care, maintain safe and nurturing environments, and support children throughout the school day. The position is based in York County, with work across multiple Head Start classrooms and sites, Monday through Friday as needed.

Requirements

Infant/Toddler or Preschool CDA required.
Reliable, punctual, and adaptable in fast-paced environments.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, stand, and move throughout the day.
Must pass background checks and a physical exam and meet Head Start requirements.
Reliable transportation required.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
Three or more years of experience in a center-based early childhood setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Support classroom staff in delivering engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences.
Actively supervise and interact with children to ensure their safety and well-being.
Follow lesson plans, classroom routines, and behavior guidance strategies.
Assist with meals, family-style dining, and daily care routines.
Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming classroom environment.
Collaborate with teaching teams and center staff.
Support children with special needs by following IFSPs/IEPs when applicable.
