About The Position

Regina Caeli Academy (www.rcahybrid.org) is seeking a part-time Classroom Substitute to teach in a classical and Catholic classroom for up to 13 hours per week at our center in Sterling Heights, Michigan. No teaching certification or formal teaching experience is required, as all necessary training will be provided. The ideal candidate may have experience in homeschooling, working with homeschool children, ministry within a Catholic parish, teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes, teaching their own children, or teaching in a classical or private school. Regina Caeli Academy offers instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. Childcare/nursery is provided. Applicants must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and demonstrate a deep love for the Catholic faith. Curriculum and grading guidelines will be provided, and tutors will be trained in instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards. The role requires strong communication skills, good organization, timeliness, a traditional view of the student/teacher relationship, and adherence to Catholic faith practices, including receiving appropriate sacraments. All staff must complete a background check and RCA Safe Child training before teaching. Tutors are expected to prepare for classes at home and teach in a highly structured environment.

Requirements

  • Must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church.
  • Must have a deep love for the Catholic faith.
  • Must be living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all the sacraments appropriate to his or her state in life.
  • Must complete a background check.
  • Must complete RCA Safe Child training prior to teaching.
  • Must be available to attend one mandatory training day on August 7, 8, or 11, 2026 (TBD).
