About The Position

Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities. The role may include working with individual students or small groups, supporting classroom operations, and helping supervise students throughout the school day. The position requires the qualifications specified for aides providing instructional support in a Title I, Part A program under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

Requirements

High school diploma or GED certificate.
Meet formal academic assessment requirements, hold an associate’s degree, or have completed two years of study at an institution of higher learning.
Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
Ability to work well with children.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Some experience working with children.

Responsibilities

Provide instruction to students under the direction of a teacher, working with individual students or small groups.
Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
Assist with administering and scoring objective testing instruments or work assignments.
Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Cover classes during teacher absences when substitutes are unavailable.
Help supervise students throughout the school day, including in the classroom, lunchroom, on buses, and on the playground.
Make the teacher aware of individual students’ special needs or problems.
Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
