About The Position

American Welding and Gas (AWG) is seeking a delivery driver and material handler to join its team in Huntsville, Alabama. The role involves delivering and handling industrial, medical, specialty, and beverage gas cylinders and related materials while following company procedures and applicable DOT and OSHA regulations. The position includes driving, loading and unloading, transferring cylinders, operating warehouse equipment, and completing accurate shipping and delivery paperwork. The job requires frequent lifting of 50–75 pounds and maneuvering cylinders weighing more than 100 pounds with a cart or by rolling them. Work may be indoors or outdoors according to business needs and may involve increased noise and safety hazards. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with employees home every night. AWG provides modern trucks without slip seating, personal protective equipment, a company cell phone, and employer-paid CDL renewal fees, endorsements, and medical card. Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Class A CDL with Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements, or the ability to obtain both endorsements.
Clean driving record.
Ability to read and write English.
Ability to move compressed gas and liquid cylinders, frequently lift 50–75 pounds, and maneuver cylinders weighing more than 100 pounds using methods such as rolling or a cart.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, back assessment, and company-administered road test.
Ability to communicate with customers.

Responsibilities

Read, understand, and follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
Comply with DOT and OSHA regulations.
Move, load, and unload empty and full cylinders safely and efficiently.
Prepare and complete paperwork accurately, including shipping papers and delivery tickets.
Maintain vehicle cleanliness.
Transfer cylinders and cylinder bundles onto pallets for storage or delivery.
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment to move materials.
Load and unload cylinder transfers onto trucks and trailers according to provided load lists.
Perform other duties as assigned.
