About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Bessemer, Alabama. This is a local, home-daily driving position delivering solo to Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with 40–50 hours worked per week. Drivers are paid weekly at $240 per day, with an average of $1,200 per week, and receive paid training. The work involves touch freight consisting of phone and telecommunication products. Equipment includes a day cab or box truck, a dry van or box truck trailer, and a liftgate, pallet jack, and dolly. Drivers are expected to follow applicable laws and procedures, maintain safety and accurate records, and load or unload freight or assist with those tasks when required by the customer. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle checks, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some positions may require additional employment or education verification, motor vehicle records checks, a road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
