About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Yard Truck Driver in La Vergne, Tennessee. This local, home-daily position involves yard work and deliveries, driving solo. Drivers operate a day cab and may use dry vans (48- or 53-foot), box trucks, and flatbeds. Some deliveries involve touch freight. Trucks are well-maintained and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

Pay is $27.00 per hour, with an average of 50 hours per week and stated weekly pay of $1,457 or more. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with start times that vary week to week between AM and PM depending on the account being covered.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: nine months within the past three years, or two years within the last five years, or five years within the last ten years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional screening, including employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, a road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading, if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
