About The Position

CrossCountry Freight Solutions is hiring a safety-conscious Class A Linehaul Driver based in Des Moines, Iowa. The role transfers freight between customer and terminal locations as directed by dispatch or a supervisor, operates tractor-trailer combinations over long distances, and requires completing inspections and required shipping and regulatory paperwork. The dedicated route runs from Des Moines, Iowa, to Kansas City, Kansas. Drivers are home daily and have weekends off.

Requirements

Hold a valid Class A CDL.
Be at least 21 years of age.
Have at least 1 year of commercial driving experience.
Have no DUI or DWI convictions in the past 3 years.
Have no more than 3 traffic violations in the past 3 years.
Have a Doubles endorsement.
Have Hazmat and Tanker endorsements or be willing to obtain them.
Be able to frequently enter and exit a commercial vehicle cab.
Be able to carry freight weighing up to 40 pounds for up to 20 feet.
Be able to perform the physical tasks of coupling and uncoupling commercial vehicles and related equipment.

Responsibilities

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
Hook up and haul trailers between customer and terminal locations as instructed by dispatch or the immediate supervisor.
Ensure shipping documentation is available for DOT inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies each shipment to its delivery point.
Operate a tractor-trailer combination for extended periods over long distances.
Hook and unhook commercial trailers and perform related tasks, including operating landing gear and fifth-wheel release levers, locking and releasing pintle-hooks, attaching and releasing safety chains, opening and closing cargo doors, and fueling vehicles and checking oil and coolant levels.
