About The Position

Ryder is hiring a solo Class A CDL truck driver in Dothan, Alabama. The role involves delivering brick and building materials within a 200-mile radius using a day-cab tractor and flatbed trailer. The freight is touch freight, and the equipment includes a mounted forklift. Drivers must be able to drive a manual transmission. The position requires six months of flatbed experience, in addition to the stated Class A verifiable experience alternatives.

Drivers earn $22 per hour, with an average weekly earning of $1,210, and are paid weekly. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays during peak periods. Dispatch starts between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM, and the position averages 50 hours per week. Bonuses of up to $2,400 are available, and paid training is provided.

Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and access to fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle, meeting one of these alternatives: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Have six months of flatbed experience.
• Be able to drive a manual transmission.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some assignments may require additional screening, including employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, a road test, or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
