About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Charlotte, North Carolina. The role delivers solo to North Carolina and South Carolina and is home daily. Drivers earn $26.00 per hour, with a 40-hour weekly guarantee despite an expected 35 hours of work per week, and are paid weekly. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a 9:00 AM start. Paid training is provided, along with loyalty payments of $600 at six months and $600 at one year. The work uses a day-cab tractor and a 53-foot dry van, hauling no-touch electrical components and building materials. Ryder describes its trucks as well-maintained and safe, 36 months or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers make safety decisions on the road and are supported by the company. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol information from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
