About The Position

The route sales driver shall be responsible for driving a truck over an established route to deliver and sell products or render services of the dairy industry to customers' places of business. This includes collecting money, making change, recording transactions, writing customer orders, and soliciting new business. The role requires physical activity such as loading and unloading product, stocking shelves, setting up displays, issuing promotional materials, and collecting unsold merchandise. The driver will also be required to stack and unstack items weighing up to 50 pounds, drag stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds, and work in extreme hot and cool environments, primarily outdoors in various conditions. Maintaining the cleanliness of the truck, performing routine maintenance, and operating the vehicle safely and courteously are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must have a Class A commercial driver's license.
  • Minimum Age: 21, as per Federal D.O.T. regulations
  • Must be able to pass a D.O.T. Physical and Drug Screen
  • Must follow all Department of Transportation regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Drives truck over established route to deliver and sell products or render services of the dairy industry to customer's place of business.
  • Follow all Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Collects money from customers, makes change, and records transactions on customer receipt.
  • Writes customer order and instructions.
  • Records sales or deliveries information on daily sales or delivery record.
  • Calls on prospective customers to solicit new business.
  • Prepares order forms and sales contracts.
  • Informs regular customers of new products or services.
  • Listens to and resolves service complaints.
  • Load and unload product at destination.
  • Place stock on shelves or racks.
  • Set up merchandise and sales promotion displays.
  • Issue sales promotion materials to customers.
  • Collect or pick up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.
  • Stack and unstack items weighing 50 pounds from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually.
  • Drag stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds, throughout the shift.
  • Load and unload truck and carry merchandise.
  • Work in very hot (100°+) and very cool (less than 32°) environments throughout the year.
  • Work outside most of the time, regardless of the conditions.
  • Keep the inside of the truck clean.
  • Perform routine maintenance on truck.
  • Work and drive in a safe, courteous and efficient manner.
