About The Position

Pet Food Experts is hiring a dependable, safety-minded Class A CDL Driver for its Bartlett, Illinois distribution center. Drivers represent the company at each stop, making inside deliveries of pet food and supplies to independent pet retailers across a regional territory that includes North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee. The role includes a mix of day routes and overnight routes, with guaranteed weekly minimum earnings and opportunities to earn more based on miles, stops, and overnight routes. Drivers typically start around 6:00 AM. Day routes average approximately 280 miles and 14 stops; overnight routes average approximately 600 miles and 25 stops. Routes cover varied terrain, including mountainous areas and coastal communities. Drivers operate Freightliner Cascadia trucks with automatic transmissions, day cabs, and trailers equipped with liftgates. Trucks have 360-degree camera systems to support safety, accountability, and visibility. Employment offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus, a $1,440 guaranteed weekly minimum, and a $100 daily per diem for overnight routes. The position has no scheduled weekends. Any offer is contingent on successful completion of required pre-employment testing and screening, including physical and drug testing, motor vehicle record review, and background checks.

Requirements

Valid Class A CDL.
Valid DOT Medical Certificate.
Ability to safely and independently bend, lift, and move up to 40 pounds.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Dependable attendance and a strong commitment to safety.
Comfort with early morning start times and overnight trips.
Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles and delivery equipment.
Successful completion of required pre-employment testing, including physical and drug testing, MVR review, and background checks.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of experience operating CDL equipment.
Liftgate experience.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a tractor-trailer on assigned routes in a timely, efficient, and legal manner.
Make inside deliveries of pet food and supplies to independent retailers.
Provide exceptional customer service at each delivery.
Safely unload products using liftgates and pallet jacks or hand jacks.
Manually handle products, including safely bending, lifting, and moving items weighing up to 40 pounds.
Enter and exit the truck frequently throughout the shift.
Complete required paperwork and maintain records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Follow DOT regulations and Pet Food Experts safety policies and procedures.
Operate equipment responsibly and maintain professionalism on the road and at customer locations.
