About The Position

The Claims Specialist will be responsible for independently and proactively managing the Casualty and Workers Compensation claims program within our Commercial Lines Department. This role involves managing and communicating claims issues with clients, carriers, or producers, reviewing claim status regularly, and providing status reports. The Claims Specialist will also research and obtain claims data from carriers, handle claims consistent with company policies and procedures, and ensure the Broker Management System is up-to-date with all relevant correspondence and notes on open claims.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of insurance brokerage or property/casualty claims experience required
  • P&C/Adjusters License required or able to obtain within 120 days from hire
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Follow guidelines on working in BMS (EPIC) for premium efficiency with your team
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively speak to customers and teammates.
  • Must hold a valid Driver’s License
  • Dependable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Industry knowledge in multiple Commercial Lines of coverage a plus; Workers Compensation, Property, Auto, General and Professional Liabilities, Cyber…etc.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a big plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and communicates claims issues with client, carrier or producer
  • Reviews claim status regularly and follows up as needed
  • Provides status reports to clients and keeps service teams informed as needed
  • Researches and obtains claims data from carriers as needed
  • Handles claims consistent with our clients and corporate policies, procedures and HUB Broker Standards and also in accordance with any statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements
  • Responsible for keeping Broker Management System up to date with correspondence and/or notes on open claims
