About The Position

Amerisure is recruiting a Claims - Liability Rotational Specialist to manage a rotating portfolio of mid-level to complex, high-severity, and specialized liability claims on a national basis as needed. The role supports different teams and claim portfolios on a temporary basis to cover organizational needs, while delivering superior claims service and proactive claim dispositions. The specialist also helps advance relationships with agencies, policyholders, and employees and contributes to department goals aligned with the company’s strategic objectives. The position directly handles auto and general liability claims across multiple jurisdictions, including investigation, coverage determinations, liability and damages evaluations, and litigation management. It develops resolution and risk-transfer strategies, maintains appropriate reserves, reports and presents large losses, and adjudicates claims according to Amerisure guidelines and quality standards. The specialist may serve as a subject matter expert for less experienced staff, attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials, monitor multijurisdictional legal developments, and assist with file audits and portfolio-closing initiatives. The role is hybrid, with work in the office two days per week, and requires overnight travel of up to 20%.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
Eight years of commercial claims experience, including high-complexity, high-severity general and auto liability claims.
Five years of experience handling litigated files and effectively directing outside defense counsel.
Extensive knowledge of current tort, contract, and coverage laws in multiple jurisdictions.
Ability to lead discussions, make presentations, and deliver technical results to a non-technical audience.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to function in a changing environment.
Willingness to take on new assignments as required.
Strategic thinking supported by analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within the department, across the organization, and with external customers.
Ability to obtain appropriate state licensing as required.
Ability to travel overnight up to 20%.

Responsibilities

Handle an assigned portfolio of mid-level to complex auto and general liability claims in multiple jurisdictions on a rotating basis, including proactive investigation, coverage determinations, liability and damages evaluations, and litigation management.
Support multiple teams by managing claim portfolios on a temporary basis as needed.
Develop, negotiate, and coordinate resolution strategies to mitigate allocated loss adjustment expenses and costs in the best interests of policyholders, agencies, and the organization.
Establish and maintain appropriate reserves for each claim to reflect financial exposure.
Report on and present large losses during internal file conferences and roundtables.
Develop and execute risk-transfer strategies and negotiate cost-share agreements.
Adjudicate claims in accordance with Amerisure claims guidelines and quality standards.
Serve as a subject matter expert to less experienced staff during rotational assignments.
Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
Maintain current knowledge of multijurisdictional legal developments and trends.
Assist with file auditing and portfolio-closing initiatives to help achieve department goals.
Build and advance relationships with agencies, policyholders, employees, and external customers.
Travel overnight up to 20%.
