About The Position

This summer 2027 opportunity is for a talented college student looking to get their foot in the door in the insurance industry. As a Claims Intern, you will perform various claims and appraisal tasks, primarily reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing documentation related to claims. You will assist with auto storm losses and manage claim assignments for material damage. Additionally, you will help manage and track losses during storm season, have the opportunity to manage rental vehicles, and assist in processing title work. If time permits, there is a chance to gain experience with Underwriting processes. The internship program follows an 80/10/10 approach: 80% on meaningful work and project-based assignments, 10% on learning and networking with employees in other areas, and 10% on shared internship experiences providing insight into the company culture, leadership, and business operations. This role offers entry-level claims/insurance experience and general corporate real-world exposure.

Requirements

  • Current college student.
  • Junior or Senior Status preferred.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and ideas.
  • Ability to learn basic understanding of property insurance policies.
  • Strong computer skills required to quickly learn multiple systems.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Team focused.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Willing to ask questions.
  • Comfortable talking on the telephone (approximately 75% of time spent on the phone).
  • Available to work full time (8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday) and in-person.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis.
  • Not seeking immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Agricultural, business, or insurance major preferred.
  • Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing documentation in relationship to claims.
  • Assisting with auto storm loses.
  • Managing claim assignments for material damage.

  • Managing rental vehicles.
  • Assisting in processing title work.
