Requirements
- A valid AMF licence (5a/5b).
- At least one year of experience as a home claims adjuster (telephone or field), with expertise in water and/or fire losses.
- A passion for customer service and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented approach and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong technical aptitude and excellent computer skills.
- Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- A valid driver’s licence and a good driving record.
- Availability for travel on short notice.
- Solid understanding of insurance products.
- Bilingualism (English/French): Requires answering calls and providing service to an English-speaking clientele on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and analyze information gathered, insurance wording and damages to determine coverage in each situation.
- Assess potential civil liability of the insured and third parties in consultation with specialists.
- Negotiate settlements with customers, claimants, lawyers and insurers within your authority limits.
- Handle field assignments on behalf of in-house claims adjusters.
- As needed, actively support claims management and other work during high-volume periods.
- Collaborate effectively with various teams including appraisal, underwriting and legal services.
- Ensure effective cost management.
- Stay informed about current trends in insurance products and appraisal and investigation techniques and services.
