We are seeking a Claim Supervisor to join our Specialty Auto Physical Damage team. This role will be based in our Plymouth, MN; Denver, CO; Canton, MA; New York City, NY; Chicago, IL; Alpharetta, GA; Irvine, CA; Southfield, MI, Boston, MA offices and operates on a hybrid schedule. The Claim Supervisor is responsible for overseeing claim representatives, both inside and/or outside, to ensure appropriate claim handling and outcomes. This includes developing plans, analyzing results, and overseeing the daily work of direct reports. The role involves reviewing and providing technical direction or recommendations on claims of varying complexity and exposure. Additionally, the supervisor will monitor claim quality, customer feedback, and claim reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer satisfaction, and achievement of objectives. The position may require performing the duties of subordinates as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of Auto Physical Damage claims experience.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Heavy Equipment damage claims experience is a plus.
  • Commercial Auto damage experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises day-to-day activities and priorities of claims staff, including the management of claims assignments and ongoing guidance of specialty claim files.
  • Ensures execution of claim handling strategies, including appropriate determination of coverage, liability, and damages.
  • Monitors reserving activity to ensure compliance with corporate policy.
  • Reviews and documents recommendations for claim disposition, including evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of claims exceeding staff authority levels.
  • Reviews and analyzes claim reports to identify and address trends, and recommends strategies to correct adverse trends.
  • Monitors vendors, independent adjusters, and appraisers to ensure service quality.
  • Manages unit staffing issues, including ensuring appropriate staffing levels, creating, implementing, and monitoring performance management activities for direct reports.
  • Identifies skill gaps of staff and establishes appropriate training needs.
  • Develops and delivers effective training and cross-training plans.
  • Stays abreast of state license requirements for staff and ensures continuing education as required.
  • Maintains a strong professional knowledge of regulatory and legal environments and applies this information effectively.
  • Anticipates and meets all customer needs (internal and external).
