About The Position

Novetus Engineering LLC is seeking a knowledgeable and driven Senior Civil / Structural Designer to design civil and structural equipment, components, structures, and systems for industrial facilities in the chemical, electrical, and/or oil and gas engineering markets. The role prepares design packages and engineering calculations, produces and checks drawings, supports project proposals and field surveys, and helps ensure designs meet applicable specifications, codes, company standards, and industry standards. The designer uses 2D or 3D computer-aided design software to develop layouts, fabrication drawings, and assembly drawings, and contributes to revisions, change control, product improvements, and cost reductions. The position may involve travel to jobsites or industrial facilities and access to facility areas. Work can involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, simultaneous operations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, electric-shock risks, and moderate to loud noise. Site visits may require standing, walking, sitting, balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
AutoCAD software experience required.
CADWorx software experience required.
Field experience required.
Experience in offshore oil and gas, onshore gas processing, hydrocarbon storage and transportation, chemical manufacturing, or refining required.
Small- or medium-project lead experience required.
Ability to find solutions to or proactively address work-related problems.
Ability to comprehend instructions and request clarification as necessary.

Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree from a technical institution preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of experience preferred.
Civil 3D software experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare complete design packages, including preliminary, conceptual, and construction deliverables, as well as engineering calculations.
Prepare detailed drawings of parts and assemblies from layouts, designs, and working drawings, including necessary projections, sectional views, and standard specifications.
Interpret verbal or written direction to initiate preliminary designs.
Perform sizing and load calculations for foundations and simple-span beams using charts and tables as required.
Check detailed sketches and drawings for project applicability and optimal construction.
Check and verify the accuracy of drawings prepared by others.
Prepare bills of material (BOMs) and specifications when drawings are complete; revise drawings and BOMs to reflect engineering changes.
Implement revisions and change control according to company standards and at the direction of engineers.
Assemble information and reference drawings from a variety of sources.
Identify opportunities for product improvements and cost reductions.
Confirm specification and code compliance, equipment compatibility, and cost savings.
Assist with field surveys, documentation of existing conditions, and recommendations for design solutions.
Verify drawing accuracy and compliance with company and industry standards before final release.
Check field redlined drawings and produce accurate as-built drawings as needed.
Assist with proposal compilation using computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools to prepare high-level layouts and sketches.
Use 2D or 3D computer-aided design software to create civil/structural system, device, and component layouts, as well as fabrication and assembly drawings.
