About The Position

This role involves operating civil and mechanical equipment on industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shops. The primary responsibilities include practicing safety rules, following instructions, assisting supervisors, performing quality work according to project specifications, and being accountable for tools and materials. Safety is a core value, and employees are expected to comply with all safety policies and regulations, and to address unsafe practices. The role also includes mobilizing and demobilizing equipment, ensuring equipment maintenance, and performing other duties as assigned by management. This position requires the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds daily, manipulate hand tools, and work in various physical conditions including standing for extended periods, twisting, bending, reaching, and stooping. Color identification, manual dexterity, oral communication, and the ability to hear and understand are necessary. Employees must be able to operate motorized equipment safely and work in environments with potential discomforts like drafts, noise, and temperature variations. Keyboard skills for data entry are also required. Compliance with the company's drug and alcohol policy, and the ability to pass a physical examination are mandatory. The role involves climbing, maintaining balance, and working at elevated heights or in confined spaces. Employees must be clean-shaven and able to wear respirators and other personal protective equipment when required. Extended hours may be necessary, and work will be performed on uneven surfaces. Mobility barriers such as uneven ground, obstructed pathways, low/high elevations, and confined workspaces are common. Environmental conditions include predominantly outdoor work with exposure to extreme heat or cold, humidity, rain, loud noise, and potential chemical exposure.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years related experience excavating near underground utilities.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds daily, seldom over 50 pounds.
  • Grasp and manipulate various hand tools daily.
  • Standing for more than two hours at a time, as well twisting, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, and stooping regularly.
  • Identify/distinguish colors and use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
  • Communicate orally as well as ability to hear and understand.
  • Work and operate motorized equipment as well as safely perform procedures where carelessness would potentially result in injury.
  • Work in an environment that is uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variation or similar discomforts.
  • Ability to proofread and check documents for accuracy, as well as use a keyboard to enter and transform words or data.
  • Must comply with company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy.
  • Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company.
  • Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
  • Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.).
  • Must be clean shaven and able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment, when required.

Nice To Haves

  • It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs.

  • Serve as backup to other positions at the direction of management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
