About The Position

Responsible for scheduling, workface planning, coordinating, supervising, assisting in cost control and ensuring the safety, consistent and fair application of all policies and procedures and productivity of crews.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in the civil industry in a leadership capacity (including storm, sanitary, water and hydro)
  • Familiar with grades and the ability to work with pipe lasers and pipe shooting
  • The ability to work safely around live utilities and do tie-ins to existing lines
  • Possess a valid driver's licence
  • Must be safety orientated, self-motivated and work well with others
  • A solid communicator with both written, verbal and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Having experience with GPS Grade Systems an asset

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, or schedule the activities and assign work to employees, based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs
  • Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures.
  • Inspect work progress, equipment, or construction sites to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met
  • Lead daily site meetings, monitor and record daily activities
  • Evaluate projects to determine compliance with technical specifications
  • Inspect equipment or tools to be used in construction or excavation
  • Set elevations and grades for roads, underground utilities and slab prep
  • Train workers in construction methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures, or company policies
  • Ensure compliance with WM Safety Standards
